Rooted Hearts
We all live in a cycle of life and death, give and take. If you think about it long and hard, we've been getting a little closer every day since birth. Yet we fear death, the ultimate fate that will befall us all. Whether you're big or small, human or animal, death will occur at some point in your life.
Death, in our view, is the unknown and the unknowable. Our natural instinct is to survive. But there's also something beautiful in death; from death comes life again. That's the definition of the cycle of life and death. It would be wonderful if we could understand that, then death will come and take you away from life with gentle hands, without a trace of panic.
Come to the planetarium for a dance with this cycle, an embrace of the two ends of a timeline. Led by Robin Coops (director & composer) and Marleine van der Werf (filmmaker & visual artist), third-year immersive media students, in collaboration with Pepijn van Dorst (sounddesigner and live performer, have created an audiovisual symphony combining various analog and digital elements, such as motion capture, projection mapping, immersive audio, and choreography.
